NPE as a serial port converter

There is often a need for remote access to devices with serial port interface. A typical solution to this situation is communication through a virtual serial port driver by using a converter Serial to Ethernet.

General scheme of the use of NPE as a computer serial port converter

Communication based on the serial port is still popular in automation systems. Therefore, the NPE has three serial ports.

In contrast to devices with similar functionality NPE supports:

extra channel wireless GPRS / EDGE
support virtual serial port for Windows and Linux
three serial ports as well as the possibility to extend the functionality of conversion
collision-free operation up to three devices connecting through the serial port

Here is a sample configuration uses the converter:

Access to NPE with Public IP

Communication with the converter - convert NPE in server mode with the public IP address

Access to serial devices without a public IP (with the emergency use of GPRS)

Communication with the converter using a backup channel

Communication without the installation of a virtual serial port
